SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Jerry S. Overton of South Roxana, who
4passed away on April 29, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jerry Overton was born in Dorena, Missouri to
6Samuel and Hattie (Blasingim) Overton on June 6, 1943; he
7married Barbara "Barb" Warren in East Alton on June 16, 1965;
8and
 
9    WHEREAS, Jerry Overton was employed as an adjuster at Olin
10Corporation for 45 years; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Jerry Overton was a member of the South Roxana
12Dad's Club; he enjoyed camping and fishing and was a devoted
13fan of the St. Louis Cardinals; in his earlier years, he was an
14avid baseball player and was scouted by the St. Louis
15Cardinals; he was the second baseman for the Olin Corporation
16championship softball team; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Jerry Overton was preceded in death by his
18parents; his son-in-law, Mark Roberson; his brother, Paul Dean
19Overton; his stepbrother, Ivan Eveland; and his sisters, Wanda
20Zook and Ardith Overton; and

1    WHEREAS, Jerry Overton is survived by his wife, Barb; his
2daughter, Lori (Brad Bartels) Robertson; his son, David
3(Constance) Overton; his grandchildren, Brendan Overton, Jacob
4(fiance Kenzi Fee) Roberson, Kyle Roberson, Morgan Turner,
5Kayleigh Overton, and Layne Overton; his great-granddaughter,
6Penelope Overton; his sisters, Marie (Sam) Sellier, Lois
7(Robert) Rea, and Linda Ross; and his many nieces, nephews, and
8other family members and friends; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Jerry S. Overton and extend our sincere condolences to his
12family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Jerry Overton as an expression of
16our deepest sympathy.
