SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death Paul Slivinski on October 15, 2018 at the
4age of 92; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Paul Slivinski was born in Chicago to immigrant
6parents from Lithuania on May 5, 1926; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Paul Slivinski lived his life admirably and
8passionately; he served in the United States Navy during World
9War II; he touched many lives as a biology teacher at St.
10Ignatius College Prep in Chicago and as a school principal at
11Pershing School in Berwyn; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Paul Slivinski was known as a creative actor and
13artist who lived his life abundantly and with purpose; he was
14guided by Alan Wilson Watts, the British-American philosopher
15who interpreted and popularized Eastern philosophy for a
16Western audience; in particular, he followed Watts' adage, "If
17you go off into a far forest and get very quiet, you'll come to
18understand that you are connected to everything"; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Paul Slivinski's wife of 62 years, Helen (Kaspar)
20Slivinski, passed away within months of his death; he is
21survived by his children, Ann, Lucy, and David Slivinski; and

1his grandchildren, Theo Glaser, Vanessa Slivinski, Kindra
2Slivinski, and Matthew Slivinski; therefore, be it
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
4ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
5Paul Slivinski, and extend our sincere condolences to his
6family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
7further
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9presented to the family Paul Slivinski as an expression of our
10deepest sympathy.
