SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of R. Thomas "Tom" Heinhorst of Mahomet, who
4passed away on April 11, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Tom Heinhorst was born in Peoria to Ralph E. and
6Alberta Thomas Heinhorst on March 29, 1941; he was raised on a
7farm near Forest City in rural Mason County; he began his
8primary education at the one-room Red Oak School and then
9graduated from Easton Community High School; he received his
10bachelor of science degree from the University of Illinois
11College of Agriculture in January of 1960; in 1984, he
12continued his education at the National Graduate Trust School
13at Northwestern University and graduated with the highest
14honors; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Tom Heinhorst began his career as a farm manager
16and rural appraiser on January 27, 1964; he became the vice
17president and trust officer of the Champaign National Bank in
18February 1979; he was named vice president and trust officer of
19the Champaign National Bank Farm Department, a position he also
20held at BankIllinois and Main Street Bank & Trust; he retired
21as the senior vice president of Ag Services at Busey Bank in
22March 2010; and

1    WHEREAS, Tom Heinhorst earned the Accredited Farm Manager
2(AFM) designation from the American Society of Farm Managers
3and Rural Appraisers in Ames, Iowa in 1969; he also earned the
4Accredited Rural Appraiser (ARA) designation from the American
5Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers in Lexington,
6Kentucky in 1970; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Tom Heinhorst was a member of the Estate planning
8Council of Eastern Illinois, the American Society of Farm
9Managers and Rural Appraisers, and the Champaign Chamber of
10Commerce; he received recognition from the American Society of
11Professional Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers for his 50 year
12membership; he served as president of the Estate Planning
13Council of Eastern Illinois, treasurer of the Champaign County
14Fourth of July Freedom Celebration Inc., and president of the
15Champaign-Urbana Jaycees; he was awarded the JCI senatorship by
16Champaign-Urbana Jaycees on June 1976; he was a lifelong
17learner and upon retirement began taking OLLI classes at the
18University of Illinois; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Tom Heinhorst was a member of the University Place
20Christian Church, where he was a past elder, deacon, and
21trustee; most recently, he attended the Mahomet Christian
22Church; and
 
23    WHEREAS, Tom Heinhorst was preceded in death by his parents

1and his first wife, Peggy J. Bailey; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Tom Heinhorst is survived by his wife, Martha; his
3children, Julie Boyd, Jodi Heinhorst, Jason Heinhorst, and
4Jennifer Heinhorst; his grandchildren, Cecilia, Jared,
5Allyson, and Joelle; his sister, Sue Meisner; and his
6brother-in-law, Johnie Meisner; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9R. Thomas "Tom" Heinhorst and extend our sincere condolences to
10his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Tom Heinhorst as an expression of
14our deepest sympathy.
