SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Samuel Cunningham "Sam" Wray of Coal
4Valley, who passed away on March 27, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Sam Wray was born in Warsaw, Missouri to Harold
6Riley and Edith Pauline Linn Wray on July 18, 1935; he
7graduated from Purdue University with a degree in mechanical
8engineering; he served in the United States Army for three
9years; he married Hildegarde Rogge in Rockville, Maryland on
10July 20, 1957; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Sam Wray worked as a consulting engineer for KJWW
12and retired in 1996 after 29 years of service; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Sam Wray was an active member of First
14Presbyterian Church, Coal Valley, where he was a member of the
15Men's Club; he was also a member of the Rock Island Rotary
16Club; he enjoyed woodworking, fishing, camping, traveling,
17golfing, history, and geography; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Sam Wray was preceded in death by his parents and
19his sister, Quintella Markley; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Sam Wray is survived by his wife of 62 years,

1Hilde; his sons, Matthew (Marlaine) Wray, Timothy (Virginia)
2Wray, and David (Patty) Wray; his grandchildren and their
3spouses, Danielle Higgins, Myles Higgins, Tessa and Josh Lane,
4Caleb Wray, Josh Wray, Jacob and Whitney Wray, Sierra Wray,
5Tiffany and Joseph Dockery-Jackson, Samantha Wray, and Zachary
6Wray; and his great-grandchildren, Anthony, Ryan, Anneliese,
7and Oliver Dockery-Jackson; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Samuel Cunningham "Sam" Wray and extend our sincere condolences
11to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
12it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Sam Wray as an expression of our
15deepest sympathy.
