SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Robert "Bob" Johnson of Rock Island, who passed away on March 27, 2019; and

WHEREAS, Bob Johnson was born in Peoria to George "Bud" and Bernice "Bea" Sweetnam Johnson on August 6, 1936; he served in the United States Navy as a Radar Operator from 1954 to 1958; he received his undergraduate degree from Bradley University and his master's degree from Illinois State University; his master's thesis was instrumental in establishing the law enforcement program at Illinois State University; he married Judy Fordham in Peoria on January 9, 1965; and

WHEREAS, Bob Johnson worked as a police officer in Peoria for ten years before moving to the Quad-City area; he was the director of the Law Enforcement Program at Black Hawk College in Moline; he was one of three police officers who received the Medal of Valor for service to the Black Hawk College community; and

WHEREAS, Bob Johnson enjoyed woodworking, fishing, golfing, gardening, and spending time with his children and grandchildren; he also enjoyed mentoring students and the friendly golfing rivalry he had with his twin brother; he and his wife often reminisced about their time in Massachusetts and their time spent traveling along the East Coast; and

WHEREAS, Bob Johnson was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Patti Johnson; his siblings, Joan Purcell, James Johnson, and William Johnson; and his special aunt, Lucille Johnson; and

WHEREAS, Bob Johnson is survived by his wife, Judy; his children, Sue (Larry) Reichard, Pamela (John) Griffith, Michael (Christine) Johnson, and Holly (John) Lowe; his grandchildren, Brandon Reichard, Nicholas (Lindsay) Reichard, Stephen (Natalie) Griffith, Zachary Griffith, Maria Johnson, Andrew Johnson, Matthew (Brooke) Johnson, T.J. (Erin) Lowe, and Matthew Lowe; his great-grandchildren, Rosie Jane, Cooper, Jocelyn, and Eli; his sister-in-law, Lu Johnson; and his many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Robert "Bob" Johnson and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Bob Johnson as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
