SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Richard J. "Dickie" Morelli, who passed
4away on March 4, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Richard Morelli was born to Victor and Ann
6(Burcenski) Morelli on June 14, 1936; he grew up in Lockport
7and graduated from Joliet Catholic High School in 1954, where
8he played football, baseball, and basketball; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Richard Morelli retired from the Lockport Police
10Department after 28 years of dedicated service; he was also a
11Lockport Animal Control Warden for 45 years; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Richard Morelli was an accomplished trap shooter
13and won Illinois State Trap Shooting championships in 1965,
141966, and 1967; he was inducted into the Illinois United States
15Specialty Sports Association Hall of Fame in 1996, having been
16named 1982 State MVP and having played in six world
17tournaments; he received the Joliet Catholic Academy Alumni
18Association Rev. Paddy McGowan Award for athletic achievement
19in 2013; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Richard Morelli enjoyed duck hunting and fishing
21in Siesta Key and at his lake home in Wisconsin; he was an avid

1fan of the Chicago White Sox fan; he was a lifetime member of
2Lockport Moose Lodge #1557 and a member of the Lockport Duck
3Club; he attended St. Joseph Church in Lockport and Joliet; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Richard Morelli was preceded in death by his
5parents; his father-in-law, Robert Beall; his brother, David
6Morelli; his daughter, Cheryl Morelli; and his grandsons,
7Michael Morelli and Lucas Clinton; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Richard Morelli is survived by his wife of 39
9years, Sharon (Beall) Morelli; his daughter, Annette (Brett)
10Clinton; his sons, Richard (Ann), Dean (Robin), and Randy
11(Kelly) Morelli; his stepsons, Glenn and Mike (the late Leigh)
12Kelley; nine grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; his
13mother-in-law, Mafalda Beall; his sister, Nancy Costello; his
14brother, Jim (Karen) Morelli; his sister-in-law, Pat Morelli;
15his brother-in-law, Brad Beall; and his sisters-in-law, Linda
16Metheney and Carole Getson; therefore, be it
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
18ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
19Richard J. "Dickie" Morelli and extend our sincere condolences
20to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
21it further
 
22    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
