SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of William B. "Bill" Mullins Sr. of
4Bloomington, who passed away on March 12, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bill Mullins Sr. was born in Berea, Kentucky to
6Robert E. and Mary Elizabeth Showen Mullins on October 22,
71943; he grew up in Bloomington, attended District 87 schools,
8and became a wrestling letterman; he graduated from Illinois
9Wesleyan University, where he was a Phi Gamma Delta; he married
10Mary Lynn Eisenberg in Mount Vernon, Kentucky on March 6, 1964;
11and
 
12    WHEREAS, Bill Mullins Sr. began his career selling
13yearbooks and class rings; after an early retirement, he
14transitioned careers and opened an American Family Insurance
15agency, which he operated for 19 years; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Bill Mullins Sr. was involved in many civic and
17fraternal organizations, including PTA boards and committees
18at Brigham Elementary and Normal Community High School; he
19served several terms as a Unit 5 school board member and was a
20trustee for Bloomington Township Fire Department; he supported
21the McLean County Republican Party; he was a member of First
22Baptist Church in Bloomington, where he served on the church

1board and as a youth leader for many years; he was a loving
2husband, father, grandfather, and uncle; he treasured his
3family and enjoyed his friends; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Bill Mullins Sr. was preceded in death by his
5parents; his brother, Robert Mullins; and his sister, Martha
6Susan Mullins; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Bill Mullins Sr. is survived by his wife of 55
8years, Mary; his children, Catherine (Charles) Arenson,
9William B. (Jeanna) Mullins Jr., Jennifer L. (Charles) Stuckey,
10Jim (Leslie) Mullins, John (Sara) Mullins, and Thomas J.
11Mullins; his grandchildren, Steven Mullins, Lauren Hegg,
12Joshua, Justin, Aaron, and Sarah Jacobs, and Jade, Avery, and
13Cole Mullins; his in-laws, Ed Eisenberg, Mickey Julian, and
14Mary Ann Mullins; and his seven nieces and nephews; therefore,
15be it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
17ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
18William B. "Bill" Mullins Sr. and extend our sincere
19condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
20him; and be it further
 
21    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
22presented to the family of Bill Mullins Sr. as an expression of
