SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Captain Jake Ringering of Godfrey, who
4passed away in the line of duty on March 5, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Captain Ringering was born in Alton on December
614, 1981; he was the son of Robin (Ballard) Disney and her
7husband, Reverend Stephen Disney, and Larry Ringering and his
8wife, Jan; he graduated from East Alton Wood River High School
9in 2000; he earned an associate's degree in fire science from
10Lewis & Clark Community College in 2004; he also earned his
11Emergency Medical Technician License; he married Allison Budde
12at St. Mary's Catholic Church on January 3, 2009; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Captain Ringering began his career as a paid,
14on-call firefighter in East Alton on February 20, 2001; he was
15hired as a career firefighter in East Alton on December 20,
162005; on August 5, 2010, he was hired as a career firefighter
17at Godfrey Fire Protection District, where he attained the rank
18of lieutenant on March 27, 2013 and Captain on May 1, 2014; he
19also served as a lead instructor for the department, the
20technical rescue officer, and the respiratory protection
21officer; and
 
22    WHEREAS, Captain Ringering earned several certifications

1from the Illinois Office of the State Fire Marshal, including
2Firefighter II, Firefighter III, Basic Operations Firefighter,
3Advanced Technician Firefighter, Fire Officer I, Hazardous
4Materials Awareness, Technical Rescue Awareness, Fire Service
5Vehicle Operator, Fire Apparatus Engineer, Vehicle and
6Machinery Operations, Rescue Specialist-Confined Space,
7Hazardous Materials First Responder Operations, Rope
8Operations, Fire Service Instructor I, Fire Service Instructor
9II, Fire Investigator, and Rescue Specialist-Vertical II/High
10Angle; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Captain Ringering was dedicated to public
12service; a leader who always wanted to help others, he served
13as president of the Godfrey Firefighters Local 1692 and taught
14Fire Science at Lewis & Clark Community College; he was also a
15trainer and instructor through Max Fire Training; he was a
16member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton; he was a devoted
17husband and father and always put his family first; he was a
18loving son, brother, and son-in-law who never met a stranger;
19and
 
20    WHEREAS, Captain Ringering was preceded in death by his
21grandparents, Lucien and Marjorie Ringering and Captain Ed
22Ballard; and
 
23    WHEREAS, Captain Ringering is survived by his parents; his

1wife, Allison; his children, Nora Marie Ringering, Elaina Lynn
2Ringering, and Logan Jacob Ringering; his brother, Chris
3(Richel) Stratton; his sister, Julie (Jedediah) Downs; his
4grandmother, Thelma Ballard; his wife's parents, Robert and
5Susan Budde; his sister-in-law, Andrea Budde; his
6brother-in-law, Andrew Budde; his nieces and nephews, Jaden,
7Jerald, Jolene, and Jacqueline Downs, Landon and Levi Stratton,
8and Jackson Budde; and his many aunts, uncles, and cousins;
9therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Captain Jake Ringering and extend our sincere condolences to
13his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
14further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Captain Ringering as an expression
17of our deepest sympathy.
