|
2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of John Mumma of Philo, who passed away on |
4 | | February 13, 2019; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, John Mumma was born in Champaign on October 30, |
6 | | 1951; he married Brenda Dallas in Tuscola on January 17, 1976; |
7 | | and
|
8 | | WHEREAS, John Mumma was a lifelong farmer in the Philo and |
9 | | Sidney areas; he also served as a former assistant fire chief |
10 | | for the volunteer Philo Fire Department; and
|
11 | | WHEREAS, John Mumma was a Philo Village Trustee for over 30 |
12 | | years and President of the Philo Park Board and the Bill Huss |
13 | | Chapel Cemetery; he served on the Locust Grove Cemetery Board |
14 | | and was a member of the Unity Alumni Athletic Association |
15 | | (UAAA); he was a member of the Illinois Tractor Pulling |
16 | | Association Board (ITPA) and eventually became vice president; |
17 | | he was also a flagman and tech official for the ITPA; he served |
18 | | on the U.S. Association of Pullers Board (USAP) and became a |
19 | | competing member of both the ITPA and USAP in 2009; he was a |
20 | | two-time Pro Pulling League Champion and a multi-time ITPA |
21 | | Champion; he coached his daughters in softball and enjoyed |
22 | | going to his grandchildren's sporting events; he enjoyed |

1 | | spending the winter in Florida; he was an avid fan of the St. |
2 | | Louis Cardinals, Fighting Illini Sports, the Unity Rockets, and |
3 | | NASCAR; he loved truck and tractor pulling and drag racing; and
|
4 | | WHEREAS, John Mumma was preceded in death by his parents; |
5 | | and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, John Mumma is survived by his wife, Brenda; his |
7 | | daughters, Misty (Jeremy) Nelson, Robin (Cory) Duitsman, and |
8 | | Kristin Stratton; his grandchildren, Kayla Nelson, Bradey |
9 | | Duitsman, Chloey Duitsman, Tanner Nelson, Kinzey Duitsman, |
10 | | Michelle Stratton, and Faith Stratton; his father-in-law and |
11 | | mother-in-law, Jim and Helen Dallas; his cousin, Bob Stahl; and |
12 | | his many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; therefore, be it
|
13 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL |
14 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
15 | | John Mumma and extend our sincere condolences to his family, |
16 | | friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

17 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
18 | | presented to the family of John Mumma as an expression of our |
19 | | deepest sympathy.
