SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Bartholomew "Bart" Grawey of Peoria, who
4passed away on February 14, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bart Grawey was born on April 13, 1984; his early
6years were spent playing soccer and basketball at St. Bernard's
7and seeing how far he could bend the rules at Peoria Notre
8Dame; his independent and free spirit pushed him to travel far
9and wide to visit national parks, art museums, friends, and
10family; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Bart Grawey was a staple in the Midwest glass
12community; he traveled the country to exhibit his personal
13artwork and exhibited with his partners at Toraason Glass of
14Peoria and Farmer City Glass of Farmer City; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Bart Grawey was an active member of his local
16music scene, promoting and supporting any touring act that came
17through town, including his favorite bands, Umphrey's McGee and
18Widespread Panic; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Bart Grawey spent his life doing what he loved;
20his infectious laugh and joyful, positive spirit touched the
21lives of every person he met; his friends became family, and

1his mantra was, "never have a bad day"; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Bart Grawey is survived by his parents, Tracy and
3Joe Purtscher; his siblings, Scott Grawey, Annie Grawey, and
4Gillian (Ian) Nakamura; his nieces and nephews, Tyler, Hailie,
5Liam, and Emi; his life partner, Katie Barko; his dog, Bowie;
6and his many aunts, uncles, and cousins; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Bartholomew "Bart" Grawey and extend our sincere condolences to
10his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Bart Grawey as an expression of our
14deepest sympathy.
