2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of John Martin Kriegsman of Pekin, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on February 3, 2019; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, John Kriegsman was born to John C. and Juanita | ||||||
6 | Martin Kriegsman on October 28, 1940; he graduated from Pekin | ||||||
7 | Community High School in 1958, where he played the trombone and | ||||||
8 | discovered a passion for music; he attended Monmouth College | ||||||
9 | and joined the ATO Fraternity, where he established lifelong | ||||||
10 | friends and played in the band; he enlisted in the U.S. Army | ||||||
11 | and continued to play music with the 5th Army Band, stationed | ||||||
12 | at Ft. Sheridan, near Chicago, and Ft. Collins, Colorado; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, John Kriegsman began working for Kriegsman | ||||||
14 | Transfer Co./Kriegsman Moving International; in the late | ||||||
15 | 1960s, he opened a branch of the family business in Hong Kong; | ||||||
16 | he became the U.S. liaison for the growing presence of Crown | ||||||
17 | Pacific, Limited; he traveled extensively throughout the U.S., | ||||||
18 | Europe, Southeast Asia, and South America throughout the 1970s; | ||||||
19 | and

20 | WHEREAS, In the 1980s, John Kriegsman became involved with | ||||||
21 | the Polar Supply Corporation; when it was sold in 2014, he | ||||||
22 | joined KMI in Pekin, where he played a significant role in |

1 | management, eventually serving as chairman of the board; he | ||||||
2 | also served on the board of First Federal Savings and Loan of | ||||||
3 | Pekin; and | ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, John Kriegsman played with several groups | ||||||
5 | including, Grace Brass (Grace United Methodist Church in | ||||||
6 | Pekin), the Pekin Municipal/Pekin Park District Band, the Pekin | ||||||
7 | Civic Chorus, and the Senior Citizens Band of Central Illinois; | ||||||
8 | and | ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, John Kriegsman enjoyed playing golf and was a | ||||||
10 | member of the Pekin Country Club for many years; he had a | ||||||
11 | hole-in-one at Mt. Hawley Country Club during tournament play; | ||||||
12 | he also enjoyed fishing and skiing; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, John Kriegsman was preceded in death by his | ||||||
14 | parents and his brother, James W. C. Kriegsman; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, John Kriegsman is survived by his wife of 41 | ||||||
16 | years, Sharon McBain; his brother, A. Richard Kriegsman | ||||||
17 | (Nancy); his nieces and nephews, Kathryn Kriegsman (Hani) | ||||||
18 | Bashary, John D. (Suzanne) Kriegsman, Amy E. (Shachar) Meron, | ||||||
19 | and J. Scott (Katherine) Kriegsman; and eight grand-nieces and | ||||||
20 | nephews; therefore, be it

21 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL |

1 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
2 | John Martin Kriegsman and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
3 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
4 | further
| ||||||
5 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
6 | presented to the family of John Kriegsman as an expression of | ||||||
7 | our deepest sympathy.
