SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Charles Carroll "Charlie" Crabtree of
4Normal, who passed away on December 5, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Charlie Crabtree was born in Frankfort, Indiana to
6Ewell and Gladys Davis Crabtree on June 2, 1946; he served in
7the U.S. Air Force and married Kathy Quiram in Benson on April
88, 1972; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Charlie Crabtree worked as manager of computer
10operations at Country Financial for 36 years; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Charlie Crabtree drove a school bus for the Unit 5
12school district for 19 years; he was an avid fan and supporter
13of athletic events at Unit 5, including announcing and keeping
14score at games and the State Farm Holiday Classic; he was
15chosen by students as grand marshal of the Normal Community
16West High School homecoming parade; posthumously, he received
17the 2018 State Farm Holiday Classic Volunteer of the Year
18Award; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Charlie Crabtree served as head usher at St.
20John's Lutheran Church in Bloomington; he drove the church bus,
21chaperoned the youth and senior citizens trips, and was a

1Sunday school director at St. John's; he was second in the
2nation raising money for Walk for Mankind; he enjoyed spending
3time with his family, gardening and yard work, country music
4shows, having garage sales, and shopping at Menard's, where he
5was nicknamed "Rebate King"; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Charlie Crabtree was preceded in death by his
7parents; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Howard and Lela
8Quiram; and his brother, Bob Crabtree; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Charlie Crabtree is survived by his wife, Kathy;
10his daughters, Nikki Segobiano and Candace (Sean) Jablonski;
11his grandchildren, Kiely Segobiano and Caleb and Trevor
12Jablonski; his brother, Gene (Mary) Crabtree; his sister, Anita
13(Charlie) Crowe; and his sister-in-law, Barb Crabtree;
14therefore, be it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
16ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
17Charles Carroll "Charlie" Crabtree and extend our sincere
18condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
19him; and be it further
 
20    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21presented to the family of Charles Crabtree as an expression of
22our deepest sympathy.
