1 | SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The success of our children and communities, as | ||||||
3 | well as the prosperity of our State and nation, are | ||||||
4 | significantly influenced by exemplary teachers throughout the | ||||||
5 | State of Illinois who dedicate their time and their talents to | ||||||
6 | ensuring our schools and our students excel in everything they | ||||||
7 | do; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Teachers mold future citizens through guidance | ||||||
9 | and education, providing the knowledge, support, and skills | ||||||
10 | that will positively impact generations to come; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Every day, our teachers encounter students of | ||||||
12 | widely-differing backgrounds, challenging them to meet high | ||||||
13 | academic standards, while also teaching them to apply what they | ||||||
14 | learn using critical thinking and problem-solving skills; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Our State and country's future depends on | ||||||
16 | providing quality education to all students; in our complex and | ||||||
17 | rapidly-changing economy, teachers lay the foundation for | ||||||
18 | success by developing students' creative thinking, | ||||||
19 | collaboration, and communication skills; and
| ||||||
20 | WHEREAS, Teachers dedicate countless hours to preparing | ||||||
21 | lessons, evaluating progress, counseling and coaching |

1 | students, and performing community service, all with the | ||||||
2 | ultimate goal of guaranteeing students' academic, social, and | ||||||
3 | emotional well-being; and
| ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, Through their service as mentors, coaches, and | ||||||
5 | club sponsors, Illinois teachers model good citizenship and | ||||||
6 | encourage students to give back to their communities; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Illinois teachers strive to instill in their | ||||||
8 | students a lifelong love of learning and to encourage them to | ||||||
9 | achieve their goals, while also recognizing that every student | ||||||
10 | has unique strengths and needs; therefore, be it
| ||||||
11 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | ||||||
12 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES | ||||||
13 | CONCURRING HEREIN, that we celebrate the hard work and | ||||||
14 | dedication of teachers in every school across Illinois and | ||||||
15 | declare May 6-10, 2019 as Teacher Appreciation Week in the | ||||||
16 | State of Illinois; and be it further
| ||||||
17 | RESOLVED, That we strongly encourage all members of our | ||||||
18 | communities statewide to join in personally expressing | ||||||
19 | appreciation to our teachers for their dedication and devotion | ||||||
20 | to their work.
