Amends the School Code. Beginning with the 2021-2022 school year, requires a school district to provide to students enrolled in grades 10 through 12 the opportunity to take the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery test and consult with a military recruiter during regular school hours and in a location situated on school grounds.

1 | | AN ACT concerning education.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | | Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Sections |
5 | | 10-20.73 and 34-18.66 as follows: |

7 | | Sec. 10-20.73. Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery |
8 | | test. Beginning with the 2021-2022 school year, a school |
9 | | district shall provide to students enrolled in grades 10 |
10 | | through 12 the opportunity to take the Armed Services |
11 | | Vocational Aptitude Battery test and to consult with a military |
12 | | recruiter during regular school hours and in a location |
13 | | situated on school grounds. The school board shall determine by |
14 | | policy the appropriate date, time, and location during the |
15 | | school year in which to offer the test to students. |
