Amends the Township Code. Provides that, except as otherwise required by a contract existing on the effective date of the amendatory Act or by federal law, a township board shall not provide group life, health, accident, hospital, or dental insurance or any combination of those types of insurance to the spouse of an employee or official or provide such insurances after the employee's employment ends or official's term of office expires.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | | Section 5. The Township Code is amended by changing Section |
5 | | 100-15 as follows:
|
6 | | (60 ILCS 1/100-15)
|
7 | | Sec. 100-15. Group insurance. In addition to any powers |
8 | | that it may
exercise under the Government Salary Withholding |
9 | | Act, the township board may
provide, for the benefit of the |
10 | | township's employees or , officials ,
or retired officials and |
11 | | their
dependents, group life, health, accident, hospital, or |
12 | | dental insurance or any
combination of those types of |
13 | | insurance. Except as otherwise required by a contract existing |
14 | | on the effective date of this amendatory Act of the 101st |
15 | | General Assembly or by federal law, the township board shall |
16 | | not provide such insurances to the spouse of an employee or |
17 | | official or provide such insurances after the employee's |
18 | | employment ends or official's term of office expires. The |
19 | | insurance may include provision
for employees, officials, |
20 | | retired officials, and their dependents who rely
on treatment |
21 | | by prayer
or spiritual means alone for healing in accordance |
22 | | with the tenets and practice
of a well recognized religious |
