Amends the Compensation Review Act. Provides that members of the General Assembly are prohibited from receiving and shall not receive any increase in compensation that would otherwise apply based on a cost of living adjustment for terms commencing on or after January 1, 2023, unless otherwise approved by law. Effective immediately.

| 1 | | AN ACT concerning State government.

| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The Compensation Review Act is amended by adding |
| 5 | | Section 7 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (25 ILCS 120/7 new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 7. General Assembly COLAs prohibited. Notwithstanding |
| 8 | | any former or current provision of this Act, any other law, any |
| 9 | | report of the Compensation Review Board, or any resolution of |
| 10 | | the General Assembly to the contrary, members of the General |
| 11 | | Assembly are prohibited from receiving and shall not receive |
| 12 | | any increase in compensation that would otherwise apply based |
| 13 | | on a cost of living adjustment, as authorized by Senate Joint |
| 14 | | Resolution 192 of the 86th General Assembly, for terms |
| 15 | | commencing on or after January 1, 2023, unless otherwise |
| 16 | | approved by law.

| 17 | | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
| 18 | | becoming law.
