Amends the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Act. Provides that the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority shall perform an analysis of criminal justice data to track crimes concerning the use of a firearm as it relates to those criminal acts committed by a convicted felon and the sentences imposed. Provides that the analysis shall track crimes concerning the use of a firearm over the past 5 years prior to the effective date of the amendatory Act. Provides that the analysis shall track firearm crimes over the past 5 years. Provides that the Authority shall report, on or before January 1, 2021, the following information in a report to the General Assembly: (1) of the people who were arrested for a firearm crime, how many of those people were convicted felons; and (2) the disposition of those cases.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Criminal Justice Information Act is |
5 | | amended by adding Section 7.7 as follows: |
6 | | (20 ILCS 3930/7.7 new) |
7 | | Sec. 7.7. Crimes concerning the use of a firearm. |
8 | | (a) The Authority shall perform an analysis of criminal |
9 | | justice data to track crimes concerning the use of a firearm as |
10 | | it relates to those criminal acts committed by a convicted |
11 | | felon and the sentences imposed. The analysis shall track |
12 | | crimes concerning the use of a firearm over the past 5 years |
13 | | prior to the effective date of this amendatory Act of the 101st |
14 | | General Assembly. The Authority shall report, on or before |
15 | | January 1, 2021, the following information in a report to the |
16 | | General Assembly: |
17 | | (1) of the people who were arrested for a firearm |
18 | | crime, how many of those people were convicted felons; and |
19 | | (2) the disposition of those cases. |
20 | | (b) This Section is repealed July 1, 2021.
