Amends the Unified Code of Corrections. Provides that the Department of Corrections shall require drug screening of every offender committed to a Department facility and may provide appropriate drug treatment services to certain offenders based on the results of initial screening.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | | Section 5. The Unified Code of Corrections is amended by |
5 | | adding Section 5-8-1.4 as follows: |
6 | | (730 ILCS 5/5-8-1.4 new) |
7 | | Sec. 5-8-1.4. Drug screening. The Department shall require |
8 | | drug screening of every offender committed to a Department |
9 | | facility and may provide appropriate drug treatment services to |
10 | | certain offenders based on the results of the initial |
11 | | screening. The Department shall adopt rules to implement this |
12 | | Section.
