Amends the University of Illinois Hospital Act and Hospital Licensing Act. Provides that a hospital shall maintain a metal detector at each point of entry into the hospital. Provides that a hospital shall ensure that all members of the public, other than the employees of the hospital who display proper credentials, who enter the hospital at a point of entry are subjected to screening by a metal detector. Provides that individuals subject to screening shall include, but not be limited to, individuals in wheelchairs. Defines "point of entry". Effective July 1, 2019.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
4 | | Section 5. The University of Illinois Hospital Act is |
5 | | amended by adding Section 6.7 as follows: |
6 | | (110 ILCS 330/6.7 new) |
7 | | Sec. 6.7. Metal detectors required. As used in this |
8 | | Section, "point of entry" means an entrance accessible to the |
9 | | public. "Point of entry" does not include ambulance entrances. |
10 | | The University of Illinois Hospital shall maintain a metal |
11 | | detector at each point of entry into the University of Illinois |
12 | | Hospital. The University of Illinois Hospital shall ensure that |
13 | | all members of the public, other than the employees of the |
14 | | University of Illinois Hospital who display proper |
15 | | credentials, who enter the University of Illinois Hospital at a |
16 | | point of entry are subjected to screening by a metal detector. |
17 | | Individuals subject to screening under this Section shall |
18 | | include, but not be limited to, individuals in wheelchairs. |
19 | | Section 10. The Hospital Licensing Act is amended by adding |
20 | | Section 7.7 as follows: |
