| 1 | | AN ACT concerning regulation.
|
| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The Veterans Burial Places Act is amended by |
| 5 | | changing Section 1.1 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (330 ILCS 110/1.1) (from Ch. 21, par. 59a1)
|
| 7 | | Sec. 1.1.
When a headstone or memorial marker is provided |
| 8 | | for a United
States War Veteran by the United States Government |
| 9 | | pursuant to Section
2306 of Title 38 of the United States Code, |
| 10 | | the Department of
Veterans' Affairs, subject to appropriation, |
| 11 | | shall pay an amount not to exceed $125 $100 to the
next of kin |
| 12 | | or $125 to the cemetery official responsible
for
the cost of |
| 13 | | transporting and erecting the headstone or memorial. However, |
| 14 | | no
such payment shall be made unless a signed application is |
| 15 | | presented to the
Department by the next of kin or cemetery |
| 16 | | official, along with such other proof
of transportation or |
| 17 | | erection charges
as the Department may require. All such |
| 18 | | applications for payment shall be
on forms provided by the |
| 19 | | Department.

| 21 | | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
| 22 | | becoming law. |
