2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Kathryn L. "Kate" Conway | ||||||
4 | on her recent installation as president of the Women's Bar | ||||||
5 | Association of Illinois (WBAI) by Justice Thomas Kilbride, | ||||||
6 | alongside the association's officers and Board of Directors for | ||||||
7 | 2020 to 2021; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Kate Conway is a partner with the Chicago law firm | ||||||
9 | of Power Rogers, LLP, where she represents injured people and | ||||||
10 | their families in personal injury and wrongful death actions, | ||||||
11 | including medical malpractice, premises liability, product | ||||||
12 | liability, automobile, and transportation negligence cases; | ||||||
13 | she has successfully tried cases in both state and federal | ||||||
14 | courts; she has helped recover millions of dollars for her | ||||||
15 | clients over the course of her career; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Every year since 2014, Kate Conway has been | ||||||
17 | selected as an Illinois Super Lawyers Rising Star; every year | ||||||
18 | since 2015, she has been named an Illinois Emerging Lawyer; she | ||||||
19 | was named one of the 40 Lawyers Under 40 in the State of | ||||||
20 | Illinois by the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin in 2019, and she was | ||||||
21 | named one of the top 10 Emerging Female Attorneys in Illinois | ||||||
22 | in 2020; and

1 | WHEREAS, Kate Conway earned her undergraduate degree at the | ||||||
2 | University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign; she earned her Juris | ||||||
3 | Doctorate with a Certificate in Advocacy from Loyola University | ||||||
4 | Chicago School of Law; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Kate Conway is honored to join the list of | ||||||
6 | impressive women who have led the WBAI since its inception in | ||||||
7 | 1914; she is committed to continuing the important work the | ||||||
8 | organization has done in promoting women's rights in the | ||||||
9 | workplace and beyond; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Kate Conway's theme for the upcoming WBAI year is | ||||||
11 | Equality Through Opportunity; alongside her fellow WBAI board | ||||||
12 | directors, she looks forward to creating opportunities through | ||||||
13 | legislative action, educational programming, networking | ||||||
14 | events, community service projects, and collaboration with | ||||||
15 | other bar associations in furtherance of the WBAI's mission to | ||||||
16 | promote and foster and advance and protect the interests and | ||||||
17 | welfare of women and women lawyers; therefore, be it

18 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
19 | HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
20 | we congratulate Kathryn L. "Kate" Conway on her installation as | ||||||
21 | president of the Women's Bar Association of Illinois and wish | ||||||
22 | her success in her new role; and be it further
