HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate David "Dave" Wians on the 
4occasion of  his retirement as president of the Gladstone Park 
5Chamber of Commerce and commend him for his dedication to the 
6organization over the past 21 years; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, Dave Wians earned his degree in Education from 
8Northern Illinois University; he married Demetria Kanelos in 
91978; he began living in Gladstone Park in 1985; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, Dave Wians worked for a life insurance company 
11from 1977 to 1981; he started his own State Farm agency in 
121981; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, Dave Wians has served as president of the 
14Gladstone Park Chamber of Commerce for the past 21 years and 
15has been a member for 30 years; he has sponsored and 
16participated in many activities; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, Dave Wians is also active in the 
18Edgebrook-Sauganash Chamber of Commerce and the Jefferson Park 
19Chamber of Commerce; he is a past president of the Elk Grove 
20Village Jaycee Ambassador #163; with a keen interest in 
21legislation that affects the insurance industry, he serves as a

1precinct captain for the Illinois Legislation Action Network 
2(ILAN); he is also an active member in  other industry 
3organizations; and
  
 
4    WHEREAS, Dave Wians served as a youth baseball and 
5basketball coach in Chicago, Fox River Grove, and Cary for over 
620 years; he is the past president and past athletic director 
7of FRG Recreational Council, a youth activity organization; he 
8is a charter board member and past president of the FRG 
9Memorial Foundation, an organization created to build a 
10memorial to the seven children who died in the school 
11bus/commuter train accident in Fox River Grove on October 25, 
121995; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, Dave Wians has received numerous industry and 
14company awards based on his service to his customers throughout 
15the years; he was inducted into the Steinmetz High School Hall 
16of Fame in 2017, which honors graduates that have made notable 
17accomplishments and contributions to society; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, Dave Wians is a family man and an active 
19contributor to his community; he enjoys woodworking and being 
20outdoors; and
  
 
21    WHEREAS, Dave Wians and his wife Demetria have five 
22children and six grandchildren; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
2HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
3we congratulate David "Dave" Wians on the occasion of his 
4retirement as president of the Gladstone Park Chamber of 
5Commerce and commend him for his dedication to the organization 
6over the past 21 years; and be it further
  
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
8presented to Dave Wians as an expression of our esteem and 
9respect.
