HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Eddie Lee
4Jackson Sr. of East St. Louis, who passed away on December 18,
52020; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Eddie Jackson was born to Aaron Jackson and Fannie
7Mae Jackson in Canalou, Missouri on July 14, 1949; he graduated
8from East St. Louis Senior High School in 1967; he married
9Pearlie Mae Rich in October of 1969; he attended Southern
10Illinois University Edwardsville where he earned a bachelor's
11degree in Education and a master's degree focused on City
12Planning; he also became a member of Kappa Alpha Psi
13Fraternity, Inc; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Eddie Jackson started his political career in East
15St. Louis in the early 1970s and served on the East St. Louis
16City Council for more than 30 years; after retiring as an
17educator, he served in the Illinois House of Representatives
18for 8 years, from 2009 to 2017, representing the 114th
19District; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Eddie attended Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist
21Church and was a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc for
22more than 50 years; his accomplishments as an educator,

1community leader, and political leader are too numerous to
2list; he was one of a kind and will be sorely missed; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Eddie Jackson was preceded in death by his mother;
4his father; his sister, Bernice Vales; his grandson, Tramell
5Jackson; and his granddaughter, Andersen Elise Hicks; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Eddie Jackson is survived by his loving wife,
7Pearlie; his two children, Eddie (Shantell) Jackson Jr. and
8Emeka (Demarius) Jackson-Hicks; and his host of grandchildren,
9great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
11HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
12we mourn the passing of Eddie Lee Jackson Sr. and extend our
13sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew
14and loved him; and be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Eddie Jackson as an expression of
17our deepest sympathy.
