HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate Johnson County Circuit 
4Court Judge James R. Williamson on the occasion of his 
5retirement after 45 years of public service; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Judge Williamson graduated from the University of 
7Arkansas School of Law in 1975 and had been a lawyer for less 
8than two years when he was elected state's attorney of Johnson 
9County at the age of 30; he served as state's attorney from 
101976 to 1978; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, Less than two years later, Judge Williamson was 
12elected as a circuit court judge for Johnson County; he began 
13his career as a judge on December 4, 1978 and has held that  
14position through 2020; he has presided over trials in all nine 
15counties of the 1st Judicial Circuit and has served as its 
16chief judge since 2014; he is currently the longest-serving 
17circuit judge on the bench; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, Judge Williamson is especially known for his 
19willingness to make decisions impartially, which has become a 
20distinguishing mark of his career; he is also known as a judge 
21who is honest, fair, hard-working, and straightforward; and

1    WHEREAS, Judge Williamson is a member of the Illinois Bar 
2Foundation, the Illinois Judges Association, and the Illinois 
3State Bar Association; therefore, be it
  
 

  
4    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
5HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
6we congratulate Johnson County Circuit Court Judge James R. 
7Williamson on his retirement after 45 years of public service; 
8and be it further
  
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
10presented to Judge Williamson as a symbol of our respect and 
11esteem.
