HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Marricea Page on being
4selected as one of the 10 finalists for the 2021 Teacher of the
5Year Award by the Illinois State Board of Education; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Marricea Page is a fourth-grade teacher at Dr.
7Maude A. Sanders Primary School; she has taught at Dr. Maude A.
8Sanders Primary School since 2011; previously, she worked as an
9English teacher at Trewyn School in the Peoria Public School
10District; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Marricea Page earned her Bachelor of Science in
12Elementary Education from Bradley University; she earned her
13Master of Education from both Concordia University and Indiana
14Wesleyan University; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Marricea Page's inspiration to become an educator
16came from two teachers, her aunt and Mrs. Linda Wagner; her
17aunt, a teacher for a school district in East Louis, gave her
18the opportunity to serve as a summer school teaching assistant,
19an experience that developed her love for helping and teaching
20others; her elementary school teacher Mrs. Linda Wagner, a
21Peoria Public School teacher, made her students feel important
22and welcomed in her classroom; she strives to make every

1student feel welcome, important, and loved in her classroom;
2and
 
3    WHEREAS, Marricea Page was recognized for being a Grow Your
4Own mentor and worked extensively to provide mentoring,
5professional development, and support to colleagues throughout
6Peoria Public Schools; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Marricea Page strives to make every student feel
8welcome, important, and loved in her classroom; she uses the
9whole child approach in her teaching, focusing on the
10social-emotional needs as well as the academic needs of her
11students; her teaching style is unique because she creates
12coursework that is exciting and relatable to students; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Marricea Page was selected for the 20-county
14regional Board of Education Teacher of the Year Award 2020 for
15West-Central Illinois; she was named Peoria Public School's
16Donald M. Phares Classroom Teacher of the Year 2020 in August;
17therefore, be it
 
18    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
19HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
20we congratulate Marricea Page on being selected as one of the
2110 finalists for the 2021 Teacher of the Year Award by the
22Illinois State Board of Education, and we commend her for her

1dedication to her students and her community-oriented service
2to Peoria's youth; and be it further
 
3    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
4presented to Marricea Page as an expression of our esteem and
5respect.
