2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Marricea Page on being | ||||||
4 | selected as one of the 10 finalists for the 2021 Teacher of the | ||||||
5 | Year Award by the Illinois State Board of Education; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Marricea Page is a fourth-grade teacher at Dr. | ||||||
7 | Maude A. Sanders Primary School; she has taught at Dr. Maude A. | ||||||
8 | Sanders Primary School since 2011; previously, she worked as an | ||||||
9 | English teacher at Trewyn School in the Peoria Public School | ||||||
10 | District; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Marricea Page earned her Bachelor of Science in | ||||||
12 | Elementary Education from Bradley University; she earned her | ||||||
13 | Master of Education from both Concordia University and Indiana | ||||||
14 | Wesleyan University; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Marricea Page's inspiration to become an educator | ||||||
16 | came from two teachers, her aunt and Mrs. Linda Wagner; her | ||||||
17 | aunt, a teacher for a school district in East Louis, gave her | ||||||
18 | the opportunity to serve as a summer school teaching assistant, | ||||||
19 | an experience that developed her love for helping and teaching | ||||||
20 | others; her elementary school teacher Mrs. Linda Wagner, a | ||||||
21 | Peoria Public School teacher, made her students feel important | ||||||
22 | and welcomed in her classroom; she strives to make every |

1 | student feel welcome, important, and loved in her classroom; | ||||||
2 | and
| ||||||
3 | WHEREAS, Marricea Page was recognized for being a Grow Your | ||||||
4 | Own mentor and worked extensively to provide mentoring, | ||||||
5 | professional development, and support to colleagues throughout | ||||||
6 | Peoria Public Schools; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Marricea Page strives to make every student feel | ||||||
8 | welcome, important, and loved in her classroom; she uses the | ||||||
9 | whole child approach in her teaching, focusing on the | ||||||
10 | social-emotional needs as well as the academic needs of her | ||||||
11 | students; her teaching style is unique because she creates | ||||||
12 | coursework that is exciting and relatable to students; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Marricea Page was selected for the 20-county | ||||||
14 | regional Board of Education Teacher of the Year Award 2020 for | ||||||
15 | West-Central Illinois; she was named Peoria Public School's | ||||||
16 | Donald M. Phares Classroom Teacher of the Year 2020 in August; | ||||||
17 | therefore, be it

18 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
19 | HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
20 | we congratulate Marricea Page on being selected as one of the | ||||||
21 | 10 finalists for the 2021 Teacher of the Year Award by the | ||||||
22 | Illinois State Board of Education, and we commend her for her |

1 | dedication to her students and her community-oriented service | ||||||
2 | to Peoria's youth; and be it further
| ||||||
3 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
