HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate David Abraham "Dave" Unes and Anna Marie (Joseph) Unes on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary; and

WHEREAS, Dave and Marie Unes were each born of Lebanese immigrants and raised in humble homes with many siblings; they entered courtship in their early twenties and were married at St. Mark's Church in Peoria on November 8, 1969; and

WHEREAS, Dave and Marie Unes became parents to two children, Diana Lynn Tigerlily and Michael David Unes, and grandparents to five grandchildren, Raynah Genevieve Unes-Reid, Meghan Marie Unes, Nathan Michael Unes, Michelle Rosemary Unes, and Nicholas David Unes; and

WHEREAS, Dave and Marie Unes' children and grandchildren are their pride and joy, inspiring them to live a life of sacrifice and hard work to be able to send their children to college; they instilled in their children the qualities of self-discipline, motivation, and compassion; they continue to be exemplary role models of commitment, faith, and love for their grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Dave Unes retired from a career as an agent and sales manager with the Prudential Insurance Company; Marie Unes retired from her career as a self-employed hairdresser and later as the manager at B'nai B'rith Apartments; they continue working in their joint endeavor as real estate investors, a passion they have shared together for nearly 40 years that has allowed them to make many friends and assist countless families through their boundless generosity, charity, and goodwill; and

WHEREAS, Dave and Marie Unes renewed their vows for their 25th wedding anniversary; they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary by sharing it with their family over a Christmas holiday in Rome, Italy in December of 2019; while there, they attended mass in St. Peter's Basilica and toured the Vatican, the Pantheon, the Trevi Fountain, and the Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi; most notably, they attended Christmas Eve Mass led by Pope Francis and witnessed the Pope's inspiring Christmas Day Address the next morning with thousands of other worshipers in St. Peter's Square; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate David Abraham "Dave" Unes and Anna Marie (Joseph) Unes on their 50th wedding anniversary, and we wish them many more wonderful years; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Dave and Marie Unes as an expression of our esteem and respect.
