| 6 | | covers cities such as Bloomington, Canton, East Moline, East |
| 7 | | Peoria, Galesburg, Kewanee, Macomb, Minonk, Moline, Morton, |
| 8 | | Normal, Pekin, Peoria, Rock Island, Silvis, and many other |
| 9 | | communities within the western part of central Illinois; and

| 10 | | WHEREAS, Over one million people live in the 309 area code |
| 11 | | and it is home to over 20 universities; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Some of the world's best soil is located in the |
| 13 | | 309 area code, and the agricultural workers in that area work |
| 14 | | hard year after year to provide for their communities and the |
| 15 | | State of Illinois; and

| 16 | | WHEREAS, The 309 area code is home to the Morton Pumpkin |
| 17 | | Festival, the East Peoria Festival of Lights, the Pekin |
| 18 | | Marigold Festival, the Annual Rubber Duck Race in Galesburg, |
