|
2 | | WHEREAS, This year will mark the 32nd anniversary of the |
3 | | establishment and recognition of National Black Nurses' Day by |
4 | | the 101st United States Congress; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Blacks have long been active in the nursing field; |
6 | | currently, they comprise five percent of the total nursing |
7 | | population and practice in a variety of areas, including |
8 | | clinical, education, administrative, research, government, and |
9 | | private enterprise; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, Black nurses have made significant contributions |
11 | | to the nursing profession; as attention to the health care |
12 | | problems of minorities and the poor increases, black nurses can |
13 | | be credited for establishing an environment of quality, |
14 | | service, and skill that patients have come to expect from |
15 | | health care practitioners; and
|
16 | | WHEREAS, Since February honors the contributions made to |
17 | | this country by black Americans, it is fitting that black |
18 | | nurses be recognized and honored for their outstanding |
19 | | contributions to our communities and our country; therefore, be |
20 | | it
