2 | WHEREAS, The Illinois House of Representatives | ||||||
3 | congratulates Rockford Police Department Deputy Chief John | ||||||
4 | Pozzi on his retirement and commends his dedicated and | ||||||
5 | exemplary service to
Illinoisans in Winnebago County; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, John Pozzi was born in Rockford on April 22, 1966; | ||||||
7 | he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in
Law Enforcement | ||||||
8 | Administration from Western Illinois University; he | ||||||
9 | subsequently graduated from the
Northwestern University School | ||||||
10 | of Police Staff and Command; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, A 31 year veteran of the Rockford Police | ||||||
12 | Department, John Pozzi launched his career as a patrol officer | ||||||
13 | on June 20, 1988; in 1933, he was promoted and assigned to the | ||||||
14 | Investigative Services
Bureau where served as a gang detective, | ||||||
15 | a youth detective, and a violent crimes detective; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, In 2004, John Pozzi was promoted to sergeant and | ||||||
17 | assigned to the Field Services Bureau; during this period, he | ||||||
18 | served as a patrol sergeant as well as a special operations | ||||||
19 | sergeant; he supervised several operations, including night | ||||||
20 | shift patrol, the Bicycle Unit, the Rockford Housing Authority | ||||||
21 | Unit, and the M3 Streets Team; and

1 | WHEREAS, By 2012, John Pozzi was promoted to lieutenant and | ||||||
2 | assigned to the Field Services
Bureau; he voluntarily returned | ||||||
3 | to the rank of sergeant in August 2013 and was assigned to the | ||||||
4 | Field Services Patrol Division and then the Pilot Police | ||||||
5 | District Neighborhood Response Unit; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, In 2015, John Pozzi was re-assigned as commander | ||||||
7 | of the Field Services Bureau Day Shift; by 2016, he was | ||||||
8 | promoted again to lieutenant and assigned to District 3 | ||||||
9 | Afternoon and
Night Shift; in 2017, John was promoted to | ||||||
10 | assistant deputy chief and was then assigned to
District 3; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, John Pozzi was promoted to deputy chief in 2018; | ||||||
12 | and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Throughout his career, John Pozzi served as a | ||||||
14 | field training officer, firearms
instructor, SWAT Team member | ||||||
15 | and commander, Dignitary Protection Team member and | ||||||
16 | supervisor, Canine Unit commander, Traffic Unit commander, | ||||||
17 | Pilot Police District team leader, Illinois Department of | ||||||
18 | Corrections policing liaison, and Rockford Housing Authority | ||||||
19 | policing liaison; and
| ||||||
20 | WHEREAS, John Pozzi also served as an executive board | ||||||
21 | member of the Police Benevolent
and Protective Association; and

1 | WHEREAS, The community is grateful for John Pozzi's | ||||||
2 | continued passion for his profession and moving
leadership; | ||||||
3 | therefore, be it

4 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
5 | HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
6 | we congratulate Rockford Police Department Deputy Chief John | ||||||
7 | Pozzi on his retirement and commend his dedicated and exemplary | ||||||
8 | service to Winnebago County; and be it further
