2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate John R. McMurray on the |
4 | | occasion of his retirement after 35 years with the Chicago |
5 | | Police Department; and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, John McMurray joined the CPD in March of 1985 as a |
7 | | patrol officer for the 21st Police District, Prairie District; |
8 | | he joined the Gang Crime South - Tactical Unit in June of 1988; |
9 | | and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, John McMurray was promoted to Detective in June of |
11 | | 1990 and assigned to the Area Two Detective Division - Violent |
12 | | Crimes and then the Area Five Detective Division - Violent |
13 | | Crimes; and |
14 | | WHEREAS, In August of 1998, John McMurray was promoted to |
15 | | Sergeant of Police for the 7th Police District, Englewood; he |
16 | | then joined the Area One Youth Division, the Area Two Detective |
17 | | Division, and the Area Three Detective Division; and |
18 | | WHEREAS, John McMurray was promoted to Unit Commanding |
19 | | Officer - Lieutenant of Police in May of 2006 and assigned to |
20 | | the 3rd Police District, Grand Crossing; he joined the Area |
21 | | Four Detective Division in 2008, the Area Two Detective |

1 | | Division in 2009, and the Forensic Services Unit in 2011; and
|
2 | | WHEREAS, Throughout his career, John McMurray has received |
3 | | numerous awards and recognitions, including the Department |
4 | | Life Saving Award, the Blue Star Award, the Lambert Tree |
5 | | Honorable Mention Award, the Joint Operations Award, the Crime |
6 | | Reduction Award, the NATO Summit Service Award, the |
7 | | Presidential Election Deployment Award, the Problem Solving |
8 | | Award, the Recognition/Outside Governmental Agency Award, the |
9 | | Special Service Award, the Superintendents Award of Merit, and |
10 | | the Unit Meritorious Performance Award; he has also received |
11 | | many honorable mentions and complimentary letters; and
|
12 | | WHEREAS, John McMurray will be remembered as the strong, |
13 | | consistent protector of the voiceless and the innocent victims |
14 | | of crime; therefore, be it
|
15 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
16 | | HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
17 | | we congratulate John R. McMurray on his retirement after 35 |
18 | | years with the Chicago Police Department, commend him for a job |
19 | | well done, and wish him the best in all his future endeavors; |
20 | | and be it further
