HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Chuck Scott on the
4occasion of his retirement after over 34 years of dedicated
5service to Illinois State University (ISU); and
 
6    WHEREAS, Chuck Scott joined ISU in 1985 as director of
7grounds maintenance and recycling; he has held the positions of
8director of Campus Services, executive director of Facilities
9Management, and executive director of Facilities Management,
10Parking, and Transportation; he was appointed interim
11associate vice president for Facilities Management, Planning
12and Operations in August 2017; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Chuck Scott was instrumental in the establishment
14of the ISU campus as an arboretum; today, Fell Arboretum
15stretches across over 400 acres of the campus and contains
16approximately 2,000 trees and other plants, all native to
17Illinois; in 2008, ISU was recognized as a Tree Campus USA by
18the Arbor Day Foundation and continues to hold the designation
19today; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Chuck Scott has been involved with APPA, an
21international organization with a focus on educational
22facilities management, since attending his first conference in

11991; within the next few years, he completed APPA's
2professional development and leadership programs and then
3became involved at the regional level; he served as regional
4president and then joined the APPA International Board of
5Directors; he was elected vice president for Professional
6Development and then president in June 2016; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Very few people know every square inch of the ISU
8buildings and its grounds as well as Chuck Scott; his vast
9institutional knowledge, informed decision-making, and
10commitment to promoting leadership and professional
11development are commendable; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
13HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
14we congratulate Chuck Scott on his retirement after over 34
15years of dedicated service to Illinois State University, and we
16wish him the best in all his future endeavors; and be it
17further
 
18    RESOLVED, That suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to Chuck Scott as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
