2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Korter |
4 | | Moran, who passed away on December 15, 2019; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Korter Moran was born in Oglesby to Maurice and |
6 | | Gertrude Moran on October 16, 1944; he attended Saint Bede |
7 | | Academy and LaSalle-Peru High School; he married Joan Lopez in |
8 | | October of 1963; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, Korter Moran was a union laborer for 53 years; he |
10 | | was the business agent for 10 years at LiUNA Local 287 in |
11 | | Spring Valley; most recently, he owned and operated Advertising |
12 | | Consultants; he was a Bureau County Board Member, Shelby |
13 | | Township Supervisor, DePue School Board Member, and Democrat |
14 | | precinct committeemen; and |
15 | | WHEREAS, Korter Moran was an avid union man and Democrat; |
16 | | he worked to ensure elected officials were doing their best for |
17 | | working men and women; he created the DePue Democrats and |
18 | | Illinois Valley Democrats to coordinate efforts to elect |
19 | | Democrats in Putnam, Bureau, and LaSalle counties; and |
20 | | WHEREAS, Korter Moran married Jane Hardesty on October 18, |
21 | | 2014; and

1 | | WHEREAS, Korter Moran was affectionately known as "Butch"; |
2 | | and
|
3 | | WHEREAS, Korter Moran was preceded in death by his first |
4 | | wife, Joan; and

5 | | WHEREAS, Korter Moran is survived by his wife, Jane; his |
6 | | children, Shane Moran, Kelli (Ben) Moran Harrison, and Tracy |
7 | | (Ron) Moran DeGraaf; his brother, Gordon (Eleanor) Moran; his |
8 | | sister, Nancy Moran Nagle; his stepchildren, Nathan (Rosa) and |
9 | | Molly Hardesty; his grandchildren, Nathan DeGraaf, Shana |
10 | | (Mike) Jo Harrison Crews, Luke DeGraaf, Ben Harrison, Joel |
11 | | DeGraaf, Sophia Moran, Adam DeGraaf, Caleb DeGraaf, |
12 | | Michelangelo Hardesty, Gianluca Hardesty, and Giuliana |
13 | | Hardesty; and his great-grandchild, Josephine Crews; |
14 | | therefore, be it

15 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
16 | | HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
17 | | we mourn the passing of Korter Moran and extend our sincere |
18 | | condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved |
19 | | him; and be it further

20 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
21 | | presented to the family of Korter Moran as an expression of our |
