HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Sharon
4Judith "Judy" Beck, who passed away on June 25, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Judy Beck received a Bachelor of Arts in Biology
6from Old Dominion University; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Judy Beck worked professionally as a teacher and
8as a United States Environmental Protection Agency Lake
9Michigan Manager for 30 years; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Judy Beck tirelessly volunteered her time as a
11founding member of Save the Grove; she was a member and officer
12of the Grove Heritage Association, a councilperson for the
13Northern Illinois Planning Commission, a past president of the
14Illinois Association of Park Districts, and a local and State
15officer in the League of Women Voters; upon her retirement as
16the longest-serving board member of the Glenview Park District,
17a park was named "Judy Beck Park" in her honor; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Judy Beck had a caring heart for the entire world;
19she was committed to protecting the environment for the
20interests of all people and was a steadfast defender of Lake
21Michigan, wetlands, prairies, and the planet; she was a

1tireless advocate for parks, open spaces, and women's rights;
2she served her village, her State, her region, and her nation;
3and
 
4    WHEREAS, Judy Beck was the beloved wife of Thomas; the
5loving mother of Carter (Susan) and Darren (Kristina); the
6devoted grandmother of Oliver and Abigail; the faithful sister
7of Celia (Stuart) Steingold, Larry (Mitra) Newberg, Stevie
8(Jacie) Newberg, and the late David (Marlyn) Weinstein; and the
9daughter of the late Sylvan (the late Rosalin) Newberg and the
10late Shirley (the late Saul) Weinstein; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
12HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
13we mourn the passing of Sharon Judith "Judy" Beck and extend
14our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who
15knew and loved her; and be it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Judy Beck as an expression of our
18deepest sympathy.
