2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Dorothy |
4 | | Jean Robinson, who passed away on October 3, 2019; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Dorothy Robinson was born in Altheimer, Arkansas |
6 | | to Floyd and Lunicy (Kellum) Thomas on January 13, 1940; she |
7 | | was born with the name Vivian but at some point became known to |
8 | | all as Dorothy; she graduated from Altheimer High School in |
9 | | 1959 and married James Robinson in 1961; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, Dorothy Robinson attended the United States |
11 | | Postal Inspection Service Academy and became a postal police |
12 | | officer in Chicago; she retired in 1998; and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, Dorothy Robinson was affectionately known by many |
14 | | names, including Ma, Mother, Aunt Dorothy, Grama, Gi-Gi, Dot, |
15 | | Miss Rob, and Miss Dorothy; she enjoyed spending time with her |
16 | | family, bowling, fishing, shopping, playing pinochle, making |
17 | | slot
machines ring, and her Chicago Bulls and Chicago Cubs; she |
18 | | was often described as a sweet lady and was called the candy |
19 | | lady at the facility where she had dialysis for 15 years; she |
20 | | would
bring candy and sometimes crackers and sandwiches to the |
21 | | other dialysis patients; she also loved to sew
and was a |
22 | | skilled no-pattern seamstress; and

1 | | WHEREAS, Dorothy Robinson was preceded in death by her |
2 | | children, James and Vicky; her parents; her sister and |
3 | | brother-in-law, Clotier and Ural
"Ned" Jones Sr.; her brother, |
4 | | Floyd Thomas Jr.; her sister, Lee Etta Robinson; her stepson, |
5 | | Harold Robinson; and her brother-in-law, Isaiah Hoskins; and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, Dorothy Robinson is survived by her son, Timothy |
7 | | (Linda) Kyles Sr.; her daughters,
Glenda (Nicholas) Bridges, |
8 | | Regina Robinson, and Vivian Gilmore; her niece who she raised |
9 | | as her
daughter, Gwynn Thomas; her "other son", Darryl (Sherri) |
10 | | Mayhorn; her stepdaughter, Diane (Otis) Petty;
her sisters, |
11 | | Alvernist Hoskins and Mable Thomas; her brother, Roosevelt |
12 | | "Bob" (Wardell) Thomas; her sisters-in-law, Ardelia Thomas, |
13 | | Dorothy Phillips, Earleen (Walter) Philmon, and Pamela (Sam) |
14 | | Turner; her grandchildren, Samantha Kyles, Timothy "TJ" (Dina) |
15 | | Kyles Jr., Zachary Kyles, Zaria Gilmore,
and Allison Bridges; |
16 | | her great-grandchildren, Ariana, Zayden, Gabriella, Ezra, |
17 | | Avamarie, Zander, and
Timothy Kyles III; and numerous nieces, |
