HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Wanda J. Sharp on the
4occasion of her retirement from the Office of the Illinois
5Secretary of State Jesse White; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Wanda Sharp was born in Chicago; she worked as a
7supervisor, safety trainer, and coordinator for the Ford Motor
8Company; she served on the board of trustees for the Village of
9Maywood and was involved with the Democratic Party; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Wanda Sharp was appointed to the Illinois House of
11Representatives in January 1999 and served until 2001; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Wanda Sharp has spent her life working on behalf
13of her community, her family, at-risk children, and criminal
14justice reform; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Wanda Sharp has been an active member of the
16Progressive Life Giving Word Church, where she has lived out
17the principles of her faith in her everyday life; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Wanda Sharp has been a role model and advocate for
19more women of color in the workplace and in positions of power;
20therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
2HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
3we congratulate Wanda J. Sharp on the occasion of her
4retirement from the Office of the Illinois Secretary of State
5Jesse White, and we wish her the best in all her future
6endeavors; and be it further
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8presented to Wanda Sharp as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
