2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives wish to extend their congratulations to Julie | ||||||
4 | Rothenfluh
on the occasion of her upcoming retirement from the | ||||||
5 | Naperville Public Library; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, The Naperville Public Library has three locations | ||||||
7 | that serve over 1.5 million visitors
annually; there are over | ||||||
8 | 70,000 active cardholders, and the library system has an annual | ||||||
9 | circulation of
over 4,000,000 items, an average of 11,390 items | ||||||
10 | per day; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Julie Rothenfluh has worked at the Naperville | ||||||
12 | Public Library for over 23 years, and she has served as the | ||||||
13 | Executive Director for the last five years; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Due to Julie Rothenfluh's hard work and dedication | ||||||
15 | as Deputy Executive Director, the
Naperville Public Library | ||||||
16 | received ten consecutive five-star ratings from the Library | ||||||
17 | Journal since the
award's inception; it is a distinction that | ||||||
18 | only 12 other U.S. libraries share; and | ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, Julie Rothenfluh currently manages approximately | ||||||
20 | 250 employees and an annual budget of
over $15 million; and |

1 | WHEREAS, Under Julie Rothenfluh's direction, the | ||||||
2 | Naperville Public Library has evolved to embrace
changing | ||||||
3 | customer needs and technology so as to remain a valued | ||||||
4 | community resource; and | ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, In 2016, the Naperville Public Library created a | ||||||
6 | three-year strategic plan to define goals and
objectives in | ||||||
7 | order to prioritize projects and efficiently execute the | ||||||
8 | library's mission; and | ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, The strategic plan emphasizes accessibility and | ||||||
10 | innovation while serving Naperville's diverse
population and | ||||||
11 | conveying the library's value; and | ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, With Julie Rothenfluh's guidance, the Naperville | ||||||
13 | Public Library expanded its digital resources,
added programs, | ||||||
14 | and grew community partnerships; and | ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, While the Naperville Public Library serves a large | ||||||
16 | community of approximately 140,000
residents, Julie Rothenfluh | ||||||
17 | has always fostered a "small town" culture through personal | ||||||
18 | connections
and genuine caring; she will be remembered as a | ||||||
19 | strategic leader and an innovative community partner; and

20 | WHEREAS, The residents of the City of Naperville have | ||||||
21 | benefited greatly from Julie Rothenfluh's
outstanding |

1 | leadership, professionalism, and community service; and
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, A community reception to honor Julie Rothenfluh | ||||||
3 | will be held on Friday, June 7, 2019 at the
Naperville Public | ||||||
4 | Library on 95th Street; therefore, be it
| ||||||
5 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
6 | HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
7 | we congratulate Julie Rothenfluh on a job well done at the | ||||||
8 | Naperville Public Library over the last 23 years and wish her | ||||||
9 | the very best in her upcoming retirement; and be it further
| ||||||
10 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
11 | presented to Julie Rothenfluh as a symbol of our
esteem and | ||||||
12 | respect.
