HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate Judy Scott of Sesser for 
4her recent act of heroism that saved the lives of many students 
5and chaperones; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Judy Scott has been  a school bus driver for 
7Sesser-Valier schools for 43 years and   is affectionately known 
8as "Ms. Judy"; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Judy Scott was transporting students on the return 
10to  Sesser from a math competition in Champaign when the bus she 
11was driving hit a bump on Interstate 57 and lost all electric, 
12steering, and brake control; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, Judy Scott remained calm in the face of danger and 
14skillfully guided the school bus with  the students and 
15chaperones inside to the side of the road safely; and
 
16    WHEREAS, The Illinois State Police described Judy Scott's 
17actions as going "above and beyond" and praised her training 
18and experience; they regarded this heroic act as "nothing short 
19of a miracle"; therefore, be it
 


  
20    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE

1HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
2we congratulate Judy Scott for her recent act of heroism that 
3saved the lives of many students and chaperones and wish her 
4many more years of safe driving and service to the school 
5children of Southern Illinois; and be it further
  
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
7presented to Judy Scott as a symbol of our appreciation, 
8respect, and esteem.
