2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Matt Klosterman on the | ||||||
4 | occasion of his retirement as superintendent of Belleville | ||||||
5 | Public School District #118 on June 30, 2019; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Matt Klosterman has devoted 34 years to education, | ||||||
7 | 28 of those years
serving Belleville District #118; he served | ||||||
8 | as a school psychologist, director of special education, | ||||||
9 | director of Title I,
director of pre-kindergarten, and | ||||||
10 | assistant superintendent of finance; he has served the last 14 | ||||||
11 | years as superintendent; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, During Matt Klosterman's tenure, the district has | ||||||
13 | seen a growing
focus on character education; there are seven | ||||||
14 | Illinois Schools of Character in District #118 and four | ||||||
15 | national Schools of
Character; recently, the district was | ||||||
16 | recognized as a National District of
Character; and
| ||||||
17 | WHEREAS, Matt Klosterman has served as a coach in several | ||||||
18 | area athletic programs and is active with the Belleville | ||||||
19 | Achieves Strength in Character (B.A.S.I.C) initiative; he
| ||||||
20 | serves or has served on the boards of the Belleville Chamber of | ||||||
21 | Commerce (President, 2011),
the United Way, the YMCA, Do the | ||||||
22 | Right Thing, the Memorial Hospital Foundation, SIUE Academic |

| |||||||
1 | Advising, and the Boy Scouts of America Lewis & Clark District; | ||||||
2 | he is the president of the Belleville Area
Superintendents | ||||||
3 | Association and chairman of the Egyptian Area Schools Employee | ||||||
4 | Benefit Trust; and | ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Matt Klosterman received the Russell C. Hill Award | ||||||
6 | for outstanding leadership and service
through the Learning for | ||||||
7 | Life Program in Special Needs Scouting; he has also
been | ||||||
8 | recognized by the Illinois State Board of Education with the | ||||||
9 | Those Who
Excel Award; in 2010, he was recognized by Racial | ||||||
10 | Harmony with the Outstanding
Community Service Award; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Matt Klosterman received his bachelor's degree | ||||||
12 | from
Washington University in St. Louis and his master's degree | ||||||
13 | in psychology from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville | ||||||
14 | (SIUE); his educational administration endorsement is from | ||||||
15 | SIUE, and he is a doctoral candidate at Southern Illinois | ||||||
16 | University Carbondale; and
| ||||||
17 | WHEREAS, Matt Klosterman has been married for 33 years to | ||||||
18 | his wife, Cherie; they have three
boys, Sam, Nate, and Matt; | ||||||
19 | therefore, be it
| ||||||
20 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
21 | HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
22 | we congratulate Matt Klosterman on his retirement as |

1 | superintendent of Belleville Public School District #118, and | ||||||
2 | we wish him the best in all his future endeavors; and be it | ||||||
3 | further

4 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
