2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives wish to commend the partnership between | ||||||
4 | Illinois State University and Vladimir State University and its | ||||||
5 | President, Rector Saralidze; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Founded in 1958, Vladimir State University (VSU) | ||||||
7 | is a large scientific-educational institution in the center of | ||||||
8 | Russia with more than 20,000 students, including 1,000 foreign | ||||||
9 | citizens; since 1968, the University has been training | ||||||
10 | specialists for foreign countries, and graduates work in 46 | ||||||
11 | countries; the University recently won a competition organized | ||||||
12 | by the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia and has been | ||||||
13 | granted the status of the Flagship University of the Vladimir | ||||||
14 | Region; only 33 universities in Russia have such status; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Illinois State University's first student-led | ||||||
16 | trip to Vladimir State University was in 2015; ISU has taken | ||||||
17 | students each May since then; a total of 34 students from the | ||||||
18 | School of Kinesiology and Recreation have participated in this | ||||||
19 | experience; students have also traveled to Vladimir State | ||||||
20 | University with the College of Education; and
| ||||||
21 | WHEREAS, Illinois State University partners with Vladimir | ||||||
22 | State University's Institute of Physical Culture and Sport, |

1 | which provides education in majors very similar to Illinois | ||||||
2 | State's School of Kinesiology and Recreation; and
| ||||||
3 | WHEREAS, Illinois State University's relationship with | ||||||
4 | Vladimir State University is a direct result of activities | ||||||
5 | supported and hosted by the Vladimir-Canterbury Sister Cities | ||||||
6 | Association (VCSCA); their partnership has been awarded | ||||||
7 | multiple Open World grants on various topics, including one on | ||||||
8 | special education topics, hosted by Illinois State, that led to | ||||||
9 | involvement from the University's College of Education, as well | ||||||
10 | as one on agriculture, which led to involvement from the | ||||||
11 | University's Department of Agriculture; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Illinois State University will host an Open World | ||||||
13 | exchange that will allow for a few faculty from Vladimir State | ||||||
14 | to visit and discuss educational best practices; therefore, be | ||||||
15 | it

16 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
17 | HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
18 | we commend the partnership between Illinois State University | ||||||
19 | and Vladimir State University and wish them many successful | ||||||
20 | years; and be it further
