2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of John A. |
4 | | "Jack" Buchholtz, who passed away on March 18, 2019; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Jack Buchholtz was born in Zion to John and La |
6 | | Verne (Gray) Buchholtz on June 13, 1942; he graduated from |
7 | | Zion-Benton High School in 1960; he always dreamed about being |
8 | | a police officer; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, In 1967, Jack Buchholtz began his career in law |
10 | | enforcement in Winthrop Harbor, where he worked as a patrolman; |
11 | | in 1968, he was then hired by the Zion Police Department, where |
12 | | he served as a dog handler with his K9 partner, Chico, for many |
13 | | years; after he retired in 1990, he returned as the Community |
14 | | Service Officer, a position he held from 1997 until 2003; and
|
15 | | WHEREAS, Jack Buchholtz and his wife raised hay for horses |
16 | | on their farm in Newport Township; in 2004, they sold their |
17 | | farm and moved to Davenport, Florida, where he became involved |
18 | | with the security detail at Windmill Village and was eventually |
19 | | put in charge of the department; he was awarded the Volunteer |
20 | | of the Year Award from the Polk County Sheriff's Department in |
21 | | 2013; and
