HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of John A.
4"Jack" Buchholtz, who passed away on March 18, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jack Buchholtz was born in Zion to John and La
6Verne (Gray) Buchholtz on June 13, 1942; he graduated from
7Zion-Benton High School in 1960; he always dreamed about being
8a police officer; and
 
9    WHEREAS, In 1967, Jack Buchholtz began his career in law
10enforcement in Winthrop Harbor, where he worked as a patrolman;
11in 1968, he was then hired by the Zion Police Department, where
12he served as a dog handler with his K9 partner, Chico, for many
13years; after he retired in 1990, he returned as the Community
14Service Officer, a position he held from 1997 until 2003; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Jack Buchholtz and his wife raised hay for horses
16on their farm in Newport Township; in 2004, they sold their
17farm and moved to Davenport, Florida, where he became involved
18with the security detail at Windmill Village and was eventually
19put in charge of the department; he was awarded the Volunteer
20of the Year Award from the Polk County Sheriff's Department in
212013; and

1    WHEREAS, Jack Buchholtz was preceded in death by his
2parents and his son, Steven Buchholtz; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Jack Buchholtz is survived by his wife, Nadine
4(Richards) Buchholtz; his brothers, Gibbie Buchholtz and
5William (Allison) Buchholtz; his daughters, Vickie (Wayne
6Ollila) Buchholtz Esch, Nancy Buchholtz, and Amy (Cole)
7Buchholtz Hayduk; his granddaughter, Leah (Ron) Crockett; his
8uncle and aunt, Johnny and Evelyn Schultz; and his many nieces
9and nephews; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
11HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
12we mourn the passing of John A. "Jack" Buchholtz and extend our
13sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew
14and loved him; and be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of John Buchholtz as an expression of
17our deepest sympathy.
