HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, Gratitude is the mother of all virtues; and
 
3    WHEREAS, The idea of gratitude is a very old idea that has
4been espoused in Jewish, Christian, Muslim, Buddhist, Hindu,
5and other traditions; and
 
6    WHEREAS, The positive effects of gratitude on physical
7health, on psychological well-being, and on relationships with
8others has been studied and verified; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Within the past few years, science has found that
10the sense of gratitude has enhanced the well-being of
11individuals in a positive manner; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Gratitude originated from the proposition of
13doing on to others as they would do to themselves; and
 
14    WHEREAS, At this time in the history of our nation, the
15individual citizen has much to be grateful for; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Life itself is worth being grateful for; the more
17we are grateful, the more circumstance will create situations
18for us to be grateful; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
2HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
3we declare the 4th Thursday in May 2019 and the 4th Thursday in
4May 2020 as "State of Illinois Day of Gratitude"; and be it
5further
 
6    RESOLVED, That we urge everyone to take time to share with
7friends, family, neighbors, employees, employers, and everyone
8they know that they recognize and are grateful for the many
9things they have in life; and be it further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to Abdulhakeem Y. Salaam.
