| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Brett A. |
| 4 | | Korves of St. Jacob, who passed away on April 4, 2019; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Brett Korves was born in Belleville to Jack and |
| 6 | | Shelly (Tribout) Korves on March 9, 1989; he married Alex |
| 7 | | Steinkoenig in Collinsville on October 17, 2015; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Brett Korves was a third generation firefighter |
| 9 | | and a ten-year veteran of the Swansea Fire Department, where he |
| 10 | | worked as a paid, on-call firefighter; in 2012, the fire |
| 11 | | department's command staff voted him firefighter of the year, |
| 12 | | and he won, in part, because of the work he put in as one of the |
| 13 | | leaders of the department's cadet program; he also worked as a |
| 14 | | delivery driver for a company in north St. Louis County; and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Brett Korves was an accomplished dirt-track |
| 16 | | racer; he was a two-time track champion at Belle-Clair |
| 17 | | Speedway, where he was known as "#25 The Kid Korves" and was a |
| 18 | | two-time rookie of the year; he was loved by the racing |
| 19 | | community; he was a member of the AARA; he was always ready to |
| 20 | | help and worked many church and homecoming picnics with the |
| 21 | | Tribout's family business; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Brett Korves was preceded in death by his |
| 2 | | grandfather, Robert Korves; and
|
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Brett Korves is survived by his wife, Alex; his |
| 4 | | son, Brock Korves; his parents; his brother, Todd (Rachelle) |
| 5 | | Korves; his sister, Kayla (Chris) Bishop; his nephew, Jack |
| 6 | | Bishop; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Brad and Karen |
| 7 | | Steinkoenig; his brother-in-law, Jacob (Macy Anderson) |
| 8 | | Steinkoenig; his grandparents, Dennis and Kay Tribout, |
| 9 | | Patricia Korves, Larry and Judy Hooton, and Harvey Steinkoenig; |
| 10 | | his aunts and uncles, Denny and Jessica Tribout Jr., Sherri and |
| 11 | | Larry Glaenzer, Patty Schrage, and James and Gail Korves; his |
| 12 | | niece, Saylor O'Connor; his nephew, Camden O'Connor; and his |
| 13 | | many cousins and friends; therefore, be it

| 14 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
| 15 | | HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 16 | | we mourn the passing of Brett A. Korves and extend our sincere |
| 17 | | condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved |
| 18 | | him; and be it further

| 19 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 20 | | presented to the family of Brett Korves as an expression of our |
| 21 | | deepest sympathy.
