2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Fred C. Hohnke on 30 years | ||||||
4 | of service to the Woodridge Park District; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Fred Hohnke was elected to the Woodridge Park | ||||||
6 | District Board of Commissioners in April 1989, receiving 3,212 | ||||||
7 | votes out of the 4,541 ballots cast; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Fred Hohnke was reelected in 1995, 2001, 2007, | ||||||
9 | 2013, and 2019; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Fred Hohnke served as the board's vice president | ||||||
11 | from 1993 to 1996 and as president since 1996; he also served | ||||||
12 | as the board's liaison on various committees; and | ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Fred Hohnke served on the board of directors for | ||||||
14 | the Great Lakes Regional Council for the National Recreation | ||||||
15 | and Park Association (NRPA) from 2000 to 2009, as board | ||||||
16 | president for the Illinois Association of Park Districts (IAPD) | ||||||
17 | in 1997, as a trustee of the Illinois Institutional Investors | ||||||
18 | Trust (Illinois Park District Liquid Asset Fund) from 1994 to | ||||||
19 | the present, and as chairman of the IAPD/IPRA Joint | ||||||
20 | Distinguished Agency Accreditation Committee in 2011 and 2012; | ||||||

1 | WHEREAS, Fred Hohnke received the 1998 NRPA's Citizen Board | ||||||
2 | Member Branch National Service Award, the IAPD's 1999 Allan A. | ||||||
3 | Weissburg Commissioner of the Year Award, and the 2004 Mike | ||||||
4 | Cassidy Commissioner Community Service Award; and | ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Fred Hohnke was a strong advocate for the | ||||||
6 | advancement of the Woodridge Park District through the | ||||||
7 | development and improvement of parks, programs, services, and | ||||||
8 | facilities in a fiscally responsible manner; and | ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Fred Hohnke was instrumental in developing a | ||||||
10 | neighborhood park within walking distance of every resident; | ||||||
11 | and | ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Fred Hohnke did more with less by stretching local | ||||||
13 | taxpayer dollars to complete capital development and | ||||||
14 | improvement projects; he secured over 11 million dollars in | ||||||
15 | federal and State grants during his tenure; and | ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Fred Hohnke supported intergovernmental | ||||||
17 | cooperation by voting in favor of several intergovernmental | ||||||
18 | agreements with other Woodridge governmental agencies; and | ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, Fred Hohnke's enthusiasm for parks and recreation | ||||||
20 | was infectious and instrumental in guiding his fellow |

1 | commissioners and staff in a strategic and progressive | ||||||
2 | direction to provide superior parks, facilities, and programs | ||||||
3 | during the highest growth period of the district's 50 years of | ||||||
4 | existence; therefore, be it

5 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
6 | HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
7 | we congratulate Fred C. Hohnke on 30 years of service to the | ||||||
8 | Woodridge Park District and having the community center named | ||||||
9 | in his honor; and be it further

10 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
11 | presented to Fred Hohnke as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
