HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Gwen Gage Ed.D. on being
4named the 2019 Woman of the Year by the Altrusa International
5Club of Elgin; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Gwen Gage has worked in the field of education for
727 years; she retired in 2013 but was called to return to her
8former school district on two occasions as a co-principal; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Gwen Gage has enthusiastically donated her time
10and skills to the Elgin Symphony League; from 1997 to 2003, she
11worked in its boutique; she served as orchestra hostess from
122003 to 2006; she is often found in the kitchen, helping along
13with other league members; she was elected board co-chair
14(2007-2009) and membership chair (2006-2007); she was
15appointed governance chair in 2014 and continues serving in
16that role today; since retiring from her position as a school
17administrator four years ago, she has ushered at the Elgin
18Symphony Orchestra's Ainsworth Concerts for Youth; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Gwen Gage has tirelessly worked for over 20 years
20to support the mission of the Elgin Symphony Orchestra; she
21also serves many other community organizations, including
22Soiree Lyrique, the Black History Family Festival, the Gail

1Borden Library, and Hamilton Wings; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Gwen Gage's leadership abilities are evidenced by
3the number of elected and appointed positions she has held with
4various organizations; when she sees that she is needed, she
5steps up; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
7HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
8we congratulate Gwen Gage Ed.D. on being named the 2019 Woman
9of the Year by the Altrusa International Club of Elgin and
10commend her commitment to volunteer service for the benefit of
11her community and State; and be it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to Gwen Gage as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
