| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate the Multicultural |
| 4 | | Leadership Program on the occasion of its tenth anniversary on |
| 5 | | February 28, 2019; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, The Multicultural Leadership Program is an |
| 7 | | intense, professional development curriculum that provides a |
| 8 | | framework for participants to learn and to practice becoming |
| 9 | | better leaders; the program cultivates emerging leaders who |
| 10 | | understand the power of diversity, leaders who want to work |
| 11 | | with people of all ages, cultures, and walks of life to |
| 12 | | strengthen and support their communities; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Based on key servant-leadership principles, the |
| 14 | | Multicultural Leadership Program is designed to help each |
| 15 | | participant find the leader within by answering three questions |
| 16 | | about themselves and testing those answers throughout the |
| 17 | | curriculum experiences; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, The Multicultural Leadership Program provides a |
| 19 | | safe environment where values, assumptions, and perspectives |
| 20 | | can be tested; mistakes can be made, and limits can be pushed; |
| 21 | | participants learn to recover from mistakes and succeed despite |
| 22 | | challenges; and
|

| 1 | | WHEREAS, The Multicultural Leadership Program is committed |
| 2 | | to preparing skilled, informed individuals for leadership |
| 3 | | positions in public, private, educational, political, and |
| 4 | | non-profit sectors; the program strives to foster leadership |
| 5 | | diversity through community welfare and participation; the |
| 6 | | program provides low-cost solutions to community needs in the |
| 7 | | form of community projects for local organizations; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, The Multicultural Leadership Program's class |
| 9 | | includes 26 diverse individuals who meet from the end of July |
| 10 | | to the following March, and the curriculum focuses on |
| 11 | | professional leadership development, community involvement, |
| 12 | | and mentoring and networking, along with simulation exercises |
| 13 | | that help participants experience life through the lens of |
| 14 | | others; employees who complete the program develop a greater |
| 15 | | diversity of thought and core leadership skills; therefore, be |
| 16 | | it

| 17 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
| 18 | | HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 19 | | we congratulate the Multicultural Leadership Program on the |
| 20 | | occasion of its tenth anniversary, and we wish them many more |
| 21 | | successful years; and be it further
