2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives wish to commend Mary Ann Smith for all that she | ||||||
4 | has accomplished over her career and thank her for her | ||||||
5 | dedication and hard work; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Mary Ann Smith graduated from Kaskaskia College | ||||||
7 | with an Associate of Science and from Southern Illinois | ||||||
8 | University Edwardsville (SIUE) with a Bachelor of Science and a | ||||||
9 | Master of Science in Speech Language Pathology; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Mary Ann Smith is married to Tom Smith and has two | ||||||
11 | children, Amanda and Dustin; she has three grandsons, Austen, | ||||||
12 | Miles, and Reed; and | ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Early in her career, Mary Ann Smith started her | ||||||
14 | own dog grooming business called the Doggie Den, where she | ||||||
15 | employed several people, including her dad, who enjoyed helping | ||||||
16 | her; she later sold that business and decided to return to | ||||||
17 | college at SIUE; and | ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, Mary Ann Smith graduated from SIUE and started | ||||||
19 | working as a speech pathologist at Friendship House and Flora | ||||||
20 | Manor; and |

1 | WHEREAS, Mary Ann Smith worked for Sava Senior Care at the | ||||||
2 | Odin Healthcare Center; she worked as a rehab manager and then | ||||||
3 | as a nursing home administrator for 13 years; and | ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, While at Odin, Mary Ann Smith was honored for her | ||||||
5 | many achievements; she received the CEO Roundtable Award seven | ||||||
6 | times and the Blue Ribbon Award three times; she made Odin | ||||||
7 | Healthcare one of the top facilities in all of the United | ||||||
8 | States; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Mary Ann Smith later became the facility director | ||||||
10 | of the Murray Developmental Center in 2015, which had been on | ||||||
11 | the closure list for several years; she has proven to be | ||||||
12 | effective, as Murray is now one of the top state-operated | ||||||
13 | development centers in Illinois; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Mary Ann Smith is retiring along with her husband | ||||||
15 | who has been the carpenter at Murray; they plan to enjoy | ||||||
16 | traveling and move to Indiana to be closer to their family; | ||||||
17 | therefore, be it

18 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
19 | HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
20 | we commend Mary Ann Smith for all that she has accomplished | ||||||
21 | over her career and thank her for her dedication and hard work; | ||||||
22 | and be it further
