HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate the Bishop McNamara High 
4School football team on placing second in the
2018 IHSA Class 
54A State Championship on November 23, 2018; and
 
6    WHEREAS, This was Bishop McNamara's ninth appearance in the 
7championship game in the history of the school and their second 
8state appearance in three years; they have five championships, 
9with their last championship in 2015; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, During  the 2018 season, Bishop McNamara went 6 and 
110 on their home field and
5 and 1 at away games; they compiled 
12an  overall record of 12 wins and 2 losses; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, Bishop McNamara had to play four playoff games to 
14get to the championship round; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, In the semifinals, Bishop McNamara defeated 
16seven-time state champion
Rochester by a score of 52 to 42 at 
17Memorial Field in Champaign, with player Tyshon King scoring 
18four touchdowns on 48 carries; and
  
 
  
19    WHEREAS, In the
championship game, Bishop McNamara met 
20their long-time rivals, Immaculate Conception; Bishop McNamara

1was led by head coach Rich Zinanni, who was coaching in his 
2ninth title game; they fought until
the end and lost by only 10 
3points; therefore, be it
  
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
5HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
6we congratulate the Bishop McNamara High School football team 
7on placing second in the 2018 IHSA Class 4A State Championship, 
8and we wish them many more successful years; and be it further
  
 
9    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be 
10presented to the players and coaches of Bishop McNamara as a 
11symbol of our respect and esteem.
