Amends the Environmental Protection Act. Allows the Environmental Protection Agency to establish a voluntary take back program for local fire departments that use and store older firefighting foam made with perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances. Effective immediately.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | | Section 5. The Environmental Protection Act is amended by |
5 | | adding Section 22.03 as follows: |
6 | | (415 ILCS 5/22.03 new) |
7 | | Sec. 22.03. Voluntary PFAS take back program. The Agency |
8 | | may establish a voluntary take back program for local fire |
9 | | departments that use and store older firefighting foam made |
10 | | with perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances, also known |
11 | | as PFAS.

12 | | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
13 | | becoming law.
