Amends the State Mandates Act. Provides that the application of every State mandate implemented on or after the effective date of this amendatory Act that necessitates additional expenditures from local government revenues without reimbursement from the State shall be limited to a sunset date of 5 years. Effective immediately.

1 | | AN ACT concerning finance.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | | Section 5. The State Mandates Act is amended by adding |
5 | | Section 9.2 as follows: |
6 | | (30 ILCS 805/9.2 new) |
7 | | Sec. 9.2. State mandate exemption sunset. Notwithstanding |
8 | | any provision of law to the contrary, the application of every |
9 | | State mandate implemented on or after the effective date of |
10 | | this amendatory Act of the 101st General Assembly that |
11 | | necessitates additional expenditures from local government |
12 | | revenues without reimbursement from the State shall be limited |
13 | | to a sunset date of 5 years.

14 | | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
15 | | becoming law.
