2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by changing |
5 | | Section 11-1403 as follows:
|
6 | | (625 ILCS 5/11-1403) (from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 11-1403)

7 | | Sec. 11-1403. Riding on motorcycles. |
8 | | (a) A person operating a
motorcycle shall ride only upon |
9 | | the permanent and regular seat attached
thereto, and such |
10 | | operator shall not carry any other person nor shall any
other |
11 | | person ride on a motorcycle unless such motorcycle is designed |
12 | | to
carry more than one person, in which event a passenger may |
13 | | ride upon the
permanent and regular seat if designed for 2 |
14 | | persons, or upon another seat
firmly attached to the motorcycle |
15 | | at the rear or side of the operator.

16 | | (b) A person shall ride upon a motorcycle only while |
17 | | sitting astride the
seat, facing forward, with one leg on each |
18 | | side of the motorcycle.
|
19 | | (c) No person shall operate any motorcycle with handlebar |
20 | | grips higher than
the height of the head of the operator when |
21 | | the operator is seated in
the normal driving position astride |
22 | | that portion of the seat or saddle
occupied by the operator.

23 | | (d) The operator of any motorcycle shall keep at least one |
